Connecting To Uca Atoms Archive

The UCA Archive is a 1GB RAID in a D-Link DNS-323. Use it for data backup, personal computer backup, music sharing (no one tell Joseph) and as a general archive. It lives under the desk in MP024. If you must, administration is with a browser, info is on a label stuck to the bottom of the unit.

User Account
Ask the administrator to setup an account for you, guaranteed painless. You will have your own large directory for backing up your personal computer.

Windows Users
This only has to be done once then it will always appear as drive U:.

1. Open an explorer. Go to Tools - Map Network Drive.
2. Select Drive letter U:. Folder is "\\128.100.93.91\Volume_1" (no quotes).
3. Select 'Reconnect at logon'.
4. Select 'Connect using a different name'. Enter your user name as given above and password.
5. Now hit Finish.

Mac Users, with a public IP address (e.g. 128.100….)
This only has to be done once then it will always appear as drive U:.

1. Open Finder.
2. Go to Network. If no 'Network' showing, use Apple-K then 'Browse'.
3. Select UCA (Ultra-cold Atoms).
4. Log on your user name as given above and password.

MAC Users behind a NAT router (e.g 192.168.1…. in MP024-5)

1. Open Finder
2. Click on "Go" in top bar menu
3. Click on "Connect to Server…"
4. Type in smb://128.100.93.91/Volume_1
5. Log on to your user name as given and password.
